Why Support us?

2.4% of our ancient woodlands remain in the UK today and despite existing for hundreds, even thousands, of years, it is still legal for ancient woodlands in Britain to be cut down.

Ancient Woodlands UK is a youth-led campaign advocating for the legal protection of ancient woodlands and working to raise public awareness and education about their importance. We launched in April 2023 after winning funding from the Woodland Trust’s Youth Igniting Innovation scheme. Our petition has over 1000 signatures and 5000 social media followers, using our platform to create a community and educate about the importance of ancient woodlands.

  • Our Campaigning work will focus on policy research, engaging with stakeholders, and working towards the legal protection of ancient woodlands.

  • Our Education programme will offer online and in-person events, where participants will learn more about the ecology of ancient woodlands, allowing communities to come together and fight threats against their local ancient woodlands.
